Active and Alive

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects

us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” 2 Timothy 3:16

The word “inspired” in the Greek means, “divinely breathed in; breathed out by God”. It comes from God himself, through men who were inspired by God to write it down. This makes God’s Word alive!

Dr. Warren Wiersbe… “the Spirit of God enabled men of God to write the Word of God.”

The Word of God is “useful” or “profitable”. Because it is the Bible is the very words of God to us, we can trust it, believe it and live by it. This makes God’s Word active!

Why is God’s Word useful? How is it active?

God’s Word causes us to live rightly according to God’s standards. It leads us into becoming a mature disciple of Jesus and it compels us to serve others and make disciples for Jesus.

Personally, God’s Word is useful to…

  • Coach… it teaches you the truth.

  • Convict… it shows you the error of your ways.

  • Correct… it gets you back on track; shows you the right path to take.

  • Counsel… it instructs you in a new way to think, feel and live.

  • Comfort… it will give you peace when you are stressed and encouragement when you are discouraged.

God’s Word prepares us and gives us the tools we need to serve others and make disciples. It transform us into the kind of people God desires us to be as His church!

Sticky Statement…

God’s Word will come alive in your heart when you make it active in your life.
